"Brookside Apts. are great - I've lived here for 2 years. Very small complex - only 72 units. One of the cheapest places around for a 1 bed 1 bath apartment, and one of the nicest places I've lived in Ann Arbor (lived here for 7 years). Water and heat are included in rent - that in itself is worth renting here. My DTE bill has never been more than $30/mo. Maintenance is quick and reliable - usually fixed same day, next day at the latest. The only complaint that I have is that the show apartment I saw had a dishwasher, but the current apartment I live in does not. The walls are kind of thin, but I've never found that to be a problem as my neighbors are very respectful. Strict no pet policy - however I asked and they let me bring my boyfriend's dog over."

"Brookside Apartments is a small (about 70 units), quiet, and well located apt complex located in between the medical center and North campus. Maintenance is great. Usually any trouble is fixed on the same day (or the following day maximum). The brook that goes through the complex is really beautiful, and all balconies face it. The #2 bus stop is right across the street, and the medical school is about a 20 minute walk (which might not be so doable during winter time). The down side is the laundry room. It's located on the buildings facing Jones Dr., meaning if you live on the Plymouth side, you have to cross the bridge to do laundry. This can be quite annoying if it's raining or snowing... The other bad thing is parking (on Plymouth side). Because the resident spots are a little lower than the visitors parking, when the snow melts, the water accumulates on the residents' spots, which can be troublesome (I constantly had to use cat litter for getting out of my spot, and ended up parking a large part of winter on the visitors parking spots). Apart from that, the one year I lived there was absolutely wonderful. I am considering going back, since it's well located, has a very frequent bus line super close, and the rent is not expensive compared to other sites of town (and a huge plus: heat is included!)."

"I lived here for a year and just loved it. The rent is one of the cheapest in North Campus and includes water and heat. The only thing one is responsible for is electricity (30$ a month max). Each apartment has assigned parking as well as has parking for visitors. Is very close to Kroger (1.5 miles), and walking distance to the medical school as well as other Depts. on N. Campus. Bus stop is right in front of the Apartment complex. Had no issues living here, the place was well maintained. The only reason I left is because is graduated. Wish i had found this place earlier, would have had saved a lot of money from crappy places. Would like to write something negative, but cannot think of anything. Highly recommended."

"My boyfriend and I lived at Brookside and I wish that I could stay here. The complex is so beautiful that it was a joy to look out my window. Although I didn't have a lot of problems with the apartment, the maintenance was awesome and there was someone outside every day, either shoveling or mowing and available to talk to if something does come up. The neighborhood was quiet and polite and for living on the 1st floor, I didn't have any issues with noise. The management is super nice and accommodating and the fact that you don't pay utilities is awesome! I wish that I could just pick up Brookside and move it to where ever I have to move next!"
